International transfer route and compliance check for sending money to Russia

Does Profee Work in Russia in 2026? Current Status and Alternatives

Profee does not currently list Russia as a supported transfer destination, and RUB is absent from its published receiving currencies. That means you should not expect a standard Profee transfer to a Russian bank account or card in 2026. Check a live quote from your real country of residence; if Russia is unavailable, use a separately confirmed, compliant route.

Turn a failed Profee search into a clear route check

Tell NoWALL where you are sending from, the currency and amount, why you are paying, and how the recipient wants to receive rubles. The team can review an available payment arrangement, likely document requests and the recipient bank before you commit funds. Availability, timing and final acceptance remain subject to provider and compliance checks.

Ask NoWALL to review your Russia payment

Profee still operates as an international transfer service, but a functioning account is not the same as a functioning Russia corridor. The company’s current country list names more than 65 destinations without including Russia. Its currency list also omits the Russian ruble. Older reviews, screenshots and personal recommendations can therefore give a misleading answer.

Does Profee send money to Russia now?

On the evidence published by Profee, not through its ordinary destination menu. Profee’s current countries and currencies page does not list Russia among supported receiving countries and does not list RUB among receiving currencies.

This is stronger evidence than an old blog post saying that Profee once supported card-to-card payments to Russia. Transfer corridors change. A recipient may still have the same card, but the provider, issuing bank, funding country or regulatory conditions may no longer support the chain.

The safest practical test is to sign in from your genuine country of residence, enter the real destination and amount, and look for a complete quote. Do not change your residence, use someone else’s profile or select a different destination to make the form proceed. If Russia is not offered, the route is unavailable to you through the normal Profee flow.

Profee and other Russia payment routes at a glance

Route Current practical position Confirm before funding Main limitation
Profee transfer to Russia Russia and RUB are not on Profee’s published support list Check the destination inside your own verified account An old account or previous transfer does not restore a closed corridor
International bank transfer May be possible for some permitted payments and supported banks Sender bank, correspondent chain, recipient bank, currency and purpose Any bank in the chain may reject or return the payment
Specialist arranged transfer Can fit personal or documented business payments on a case-by-case basis Provider identity, final RUB amount, recipient method, documents and refund terms Availability depends on the exact parties, purpose and bank
Local card or account receipt Useful when the recipient needs rubles rather than foreign currency Exact receiving bank, account ownership, payout reference and fees A Russian card number alone does not prove international reachability

There is no universal replacement app. Compare the complete payment, not just the brand name: who sends, who receives, the lawful purpose, the source currency, the Russian bank, the delivered ruble amount and the return process.

Why an older Profee recommendation may no longer work

Destination coverage changes

A provider can add or remove a country, currency, bank or payout method without invalidating its service elsewhere. Search results often retain old pages long after the quote screen changes. The destination list and an account-specific quote should take priority over a review written in a previous year.

Your sending country matters

Profee says the sender should choose the country where they live and use a payment card issued in that country. Its transfer instructions explain that the available destination, funding method and requested recipient details are part of the live flow. A route seen by one customer cannot be assumed to appear for another residence.

The receiving method matters

Bank deposit and card receipt are not interchangeable. A Russian-issued card belongs to a particular bank and card network; a bank account needs different beneficiary information. Even where a provider supports a country generally, it may exclude a particular issuer or payout method.

Compliance approval is transaction-specific

A quoted route can still be reviewed. Providers and banks may check identity, source of funds, recipient, purpose, amount and transaction pattern. A lawful family payment and a commercial invoice can require different evidence and may be handled under different rules.

How to verify Profee availability without sending money

  1. Use your own verified profile. Select your real residence and do not use a VPN or borrowed account to change eligibility.
  2. Choose Russia as the destination. If it is absent from the menu, stop: there is no ordinary quote to assess.
  3. Enter the actual amount. Limits and options can vary with size, currency and account status.
  4. Check the payout method. Confirm whether the recipient would receive money to a named bank account, card or another stated method.
  5. Review the full price. Profee says fees and exchange terms are shown for the selected transfer. Compare the final recipient amount, not a promotional headline.
  6. Stop before payment. A quote check does not require testing the route with a small transfer when the destination or recipient method is unclear.

Profee’s published transfer terms say that current fees depend on the destination and transfer features and are displayed after the customer selects the route and amount. That makes the live quote the right place to compare cost—but only after the destination is actually supported.

What to use instead of Profee for a Russia payment

A confirmed specialist route

A specialist may be able to arrange ruble receipt after reviewing the sender country, recipient, bank and purpose. Ask for the legal provider identity, a written quote, the exact recipient method, expected timing, document requirements and what happens if the payment cannot be completed.

NoWALL’s broader guide explains how to send money to Russia in 2026 and how to compare supported arrangements without assuming that one method fits every case.

An international bank transfer

A bank transfer may suit a documented invoice, salary or larger permitted payment when the complete bank chain supports it. Ask the recipient bank for current incoming instructions, including the accepted currency and any correspondent details. Then obtain confirmation from the sender’s bank before funding.

Read the practical explanation of whether you can send a SWIFT transfer to Russia. A BIC or account number does not guarantee that a usable correspondent route exists.

Ruble receipt to a supported account or card

If the recipient needs rubles, compare the final RUB credit and the named receiving bank. Do not assume that every MIR card or Russian card can receive an international payment. The route may use a local payout after a separate cross-border arrangement, and the provider should explain the chain clearly enough for both parties to keep records.

Recipient details and documents to prepare

Preparing a clean payment file helps the provider understand the transaction. It does not guarantee approval. Collect:

  • sender’s full legal name, residence, identification and contact details;
  • recipient’s full legal name exactly as held by the receiving bank;
  • recipient bank’s legal name and, for account receipt, account and bank codes;
  • card type and issuing bank if a card payout is explicitly offered;
  • a truthful payment purpose, such as family support, gift, salary or invoice;
  • proof of relationship or an explanation for a personal payment where requested;
  • contract, invoice, payroll record or other commercial evidence where relevant;
  • source-of-funds evidence, especially for a large or unusual amount;
  • the written quote, expected RUB amount, fees and refund terms.

Names and purpose should agree across the transfer form and supporting records. For a reusable list, see the documents needed to send money to Russia.

Sanctions, compliance and account-safety risks

A provider restriction is not identical to a legal prohibition. Equally, the fact that a payment is personal does not automatically make every route lawful. The analysis can depend on the sender’s jurisdiction, nationality or residence, the recipient and beneficial owners, every bank involved, the purpose and any underlying goods or services.

For EU-connected payments, the European Commission maintains current guidance on payment services under the Russia sanctions framework. The guidance was updated in March 2026 and addresses specific payment and e-money services. It should be read together with the Commission’s wider Russia sanctions materials and transaction-specific advice where needed.

The European Commission’s summary of the EU’s 19th sanctions package describes additional restrictions involving payment infrastructure, including Russia’s MIR system. These developments are one reason a card route that once worked should never be treated as permanently available.

Do not disguise Russia as another destination, misstate the purpose, split a payment to avoid checks or use an unrelated person’s account. Those steps can violate terms, create sanctions or fraud concerns, trigger an account freeze and make recovery difficult.

How to compare cost and return risk

A zero-fee claim is not a complete price. Compare the funding fee, exchange-rate margin, intermediary deductions, receiving fee and the final ruble amount. Ask whether the quote is fixed or indicative and for how long it remains valid.

Also ask about failure. If the payment is rejected after funding, which currency is returned? Who pays bank or network deductions? How long can a review take? A slightly more expensive route with clear return terms may be more suitable than a cheap quote with an uncertain recipient method.

The guide to fees, FX and hidden costs when sending money to Russia provides a full comparison checklist.

A practical decision checklist

  1. Check Profee’s current destination list and your own account.
  2. If Russia is unavailable, do not try to force the transaction through another destination.
  3. Define the real sender, recipient, amount, purpose and desired RUB receipt.
  4. Screen the parties, recipient bank and proposed payment chain.
  5. Compare a bank route and a specialist route where each is genuinely available.
  6. Review documents, final RUB amount, timing and return terms before funding.
  7. Keep the quote, instructions, receipt and all compliance correspondence.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send money from Profee to a Russian card in 2026?

Do not assume so. Russia is absent from Profee’s published destination list, and RUB is not listed as a receiving currency. Check your own account, but if Russia or the exact card method is not offered, do not fund a transfer.

Why did Profee work for Russia before but not now?

Provider corridors, partner banks, regulations and risk policies change. A previous payment or old screenshot proves only that a route existed at that time, not that it is available now.

Can I choose another country in Profee and still pay someone in Russia?

No. Selecting a false destination or using an unrelated intermediary can breach provider rules, cause a review and create legal or recovery risk. Use the true destination and recipient.

Is Profee banned everywhere?

No. Profee currently publishes a broad list of supported countries and currencies. The issue addressed here is the absence of Russia and RUB from that published coverage, not a claim that the service is unavailable worldwide.

What details does an alternative provider need?

Expect to provide sender identity and residence, recipient name and bank, amount, currency, payment purpose and supporting evidence. Requirements vary with the transaction and jurisdiction.

Is it legal to send personal support to Russia?

It can be lawful, but the answer depends on the jurisdictions, people, banks and purpose. A personal label is not a blanket exemption, and providers may decline a lawful payment under their own policies.

Freshness note: checked on 4 August 2026 against Profee’s current countries, currencies, transfer process and fee pages, plus European Commission and EU Council sanctions materials. Provider coverage and payment rules can change; confirm the exact route immediately before sending.
